What is great about Almogrote?

  • Almogrote boasts a bold and memorable taste that results from the harmonious blend of garlic, cheese, and local peppers. Its pungent and tangy profile sets it apart from other spreads and dips.

  • This spread is a culinary ambassador of the Canary Islands, offering a genuine taste of the region's rich gastronomy. It's an opportunity to experience the flavors and traditions of this picturesque archipelago.

  • Almogrote can be enjoyed in various ways. Whether you spread it on bread, use it as a dip for vegetables or chips, or incorporate it into recipes, it adds a burst of flavor to any dish.

  • Making Almogrote is relatively simple, requiring just a few ingredients and minimal cooking. It's an accessible way to introduce Canarian cuisine to your table.

Tips

  • To enhance the flavor of the local peppers, consider roasting or grilling them before adding them to the spread. This step can add a smoky and charred dimension to the dish.

  • Adjust the amount of garlic to your preference. If you prefer a milder garlic flavor, use less garlic, or roast it for a mellower taste. Conversely, if you love the pungent garlic kick, use more.

  • While traditional Almogrote uses local Canarian cheeses like queso duro, you can experiment with other cheeses like Manchego or Parmesan for a unique twist on the recipe.

  • Depending on your preference, you can make Almogrote smoother or chunkier. Use a food processor for a smoother texture, or hand-mash for a coarser, rustic consistency.
